RIBADEO FACING THE SEA
First Conference Series around the Fort of San Damián
On the 17th and 18th of October, organised by the Ribadeo Town Council as part of the Ribadeo cara ao mar programme (Ribadeo facing the Sea), the First Conference on the Fort of San Damián will be held — an initiative aimed at highlighting the value of coastal fortified heritage and promoting the conservation of one of the town’s most distinctive landmarks.
The programme includes four thematic sessions in which specialists from Galicia and Asturias will discuss the evolution of coastal defences from the 16th century to the contemporary period, with particular attention to the strategic role of the Ribadeo estuary.
In addition to the sessions and talks, the conference will also feature guided tours of the historic centre and the fortifications of Porcillán and the Fort of San Damián, gastronomic tastings showcasing local seafood products, and an early music concert to close the event.
